Discover Howard Lewis, a multifaceted thinker and creator behind OFFLINE, a captivating endeavour emphasising physical interaction in a digital world.
Upon my return to London after a year of reporting abroad, I had the pleasure of reconnecting with the renowned photographer and filmmaker Sascha Klamp. Our shared experiences in the field forged a bond, and I was honoured to have the opportunity to interview him for an article highlighting his exceptional work in Armenia and his groundbreaking initiatives in Kosovo. Our conversation was a testament to the power of collaboration and the beauty of differing perspectives.
As a gesture of goodwill, Sascha invited me to join him for a sumptuous supper in the charming neighbourhood of Marylebone. It was there that I met Howard Lewis, a man of boundless curiosity and unparalleled intellect. Our discussions were engaging and enlightening, revealing a man with a unique perspective and a wealth of knowledge.
Intrigued by Howard's ideas, I approached him and requested the privilege of an on-the-record conversation. To my delight, he agreed to meet with me the following week at his office. Our conversation promised to be a deep dive into the mind of an inquisitive thinker, and I eagerly anticipated the insights he would share. Finally, on Tuesday, May 16, I sat down with Howard Lewis for what promised to be a captivating conversation.
On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, I met Howard Lewis, a 61-year-old individual with a rich blend of culture, creativity, and curiosity. Howard's ventures have encompassed a diverse range of experiences, most notably his longstanding practice of sending investment reports to a select group. These reports delve into topics ranging from infrastructure and demographics to the volatile nature of markets. However, Howard's intellectual pursuits extend beyond financial matters. He has expanded his horizons by sharing articles on subjects that captivate his friends, clients, and associates, as well as those he believes they should be aware of.
The response to Howard's articles has been overwhelmingly positive, leading him to conceive and establish OFFLINE. Rooted in the belief that in our increasingly wired world, genuine physical interaction is more crucial than ever, OFFLINE serves as an antithesis to the online realm. While the articles act as catalysts, their true purpose is to emphasize the importance of human connection through activities such as conversation, laughter, dining, and contemplation. OFFLINE aims to challenge, provoke, stimulate, amuse, nurture, and nourish its audience within a delightful and congenial setting.
Howard's passions extend beyond his intellectual pursuits. He has an avid appreciation for art, literature, football, travel, wit, and wonder. Furthermore, he possesses an undeniable fondness for custard doughnuts, with a preference for the purists' choice of sprinkly sugar. Howard's affiliations include esteemed institutions like the MCC, Savile Club, and London Library, while his enduring loyalty lies with Arsenal FC, a team renowned for their dedication to the beautiful game.
